Rio Grande Hospital R&R

Project Description:
The Rio Grande Hospital Renovation and Additions project began in 2016 as a dream of the Board of Directors and CEO, Arlene Harms. Joe Aldrich was brought in early to help secure the financing for the needed expansion. After USDA Community Facility funds were procured, design commenced on over 13,500 square feet of additions to the facility and 8,000 square feet of full renovations. The build-out and renovation consisted of adding a wound care service line, relocating and enlarging the physical therapy gym, a 28-day turnaround renovation of the operating and recovery suite, and the addition of new emergency department space. This project was very technical and spread out over 7 distinct phases which touched nearly every piece of the facility. Another challenge was juggling the departments and services of the facility so that the team minimized impacts on patients and staff.
